Uganda Double Gorilla Trekking Safari

Your safari begins early in the morning. After breakfast, your guide meets you and gives you a short briefing about the next four days. You then start the scenic journey toward Bwindi. Along the way you stop at the Equator for photos and a chance to browse local crafts. You later continue for lunch in Mbarara before heading through rolling green hills and beautiful countryside. As you approach Kabale, often referred to as the Switzerland of Africa, the views become even more captivating. You arrive at your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Begin your day with an early breakfast before heading to the park office with your packed lunch. Rangers welcome you and give a detailed briefing. You then enter the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. The walk can take between two and six hours depending on where the gorilla family is located. Once you find them, you spend a full hour watching them interact, feed, play and move gently through the forest. It is one of the most emotional wildlife encounters in Africa. After the trek you return to the lodge to rest. Later in the afternoon you visit the Batwa community for a cultural walk. Enjoy dinner and a peaceful night.

After an early breakfast you return to the park for your second trekking experience. This time you follow a different gorilla family. Every group has its own behavior and personality, so the second trek feels fresh and completely new. After the trek you begin your journey to Lake Bunyonyi, a beautiful and peaceful lake surrounded by terraced hills. The water is free from bilharzia and safe for swimming. You relax here for dinner and the night.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before heading out for a boat ride across Lake Bunyonyi. You glide past many different islands while taking in views of birds and hillside farms. Afterwards you begin the return journey to Kampala with lunch along the way. You arrive in the evening and your guide drops you at your accommodation in Entebbe. This marks the end of your safari.
