3-Day Samburu & Ol Pejeta Safari

Begin your safari with an early morning pick-up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel. Journey north toward the rugged landscapes of Samburu National Reserve, passing through Kenya’s fertile central highlands—lush with tea and coffee plantations.

Make a brief stop at the equator line for a fun demonstration of the Coriolis effect and a bathroom break. Continue to Samburu, arriving in time for lunch at your luxury tented camp.

Later in the afternoon, set off for your first game drive across the reserve’s semi-arid savannahs and riverine forests. Samburu is famed for its unique wildlife species known as the Samburu Special Five—Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx, and gerenuk. You’ll also enjoy sightings of elephants, big cats, and perhaps the occasional leopard.

Return to camp by sunset for dinner and a relaxing evening under the stars.

Begin your day with an early sunrise game drive to catch the reserve’s wildlife in action. Return to camp for breakfast, then check out and drive southward through the dramatic landscapes of Laikipia to Ol Pejeta Conservancy near Nanyuki.

Arrive in time for late lunch at the elegant Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, a historic resort set against the backdrop of Mount Kenya. Take time to relax and explore the grounds before visiting the nearby animal orphanage, which rehabilitates injured or orphaned wildlife for eventual reintroduction into the wild.

Return to the lodge for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Ol Pejeta Conservancy for a morning game drive. Highlights include a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary—the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees—and the Endangered Species Enclosure, home to the last two northern white rhinos on Earth.

Continue your drive through the park in search of elephants, rhinos, lions, gazelles, and more. Ol Pejeta is also East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and a conservation leader in Kenya.

Midday, depart Ol Pejeta with a lunch stop at the scenic Trout Tree Restaurant, nestled beside a waterfall. Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or JKIA airport—marking the end of your memorable safari.
