About the Reserve

Wedged between the dramatic escarpment of the East African Rift Valley and the shimmering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, this compact park packs an extraordinary diversity of habitats and wildlife into a relatively small area. It is celebrated worldwide for its resident population of tree-climbing lions, a rare behavioural adaptation, as well as vast flocks of flamingos and one of the highest bird species counts of any park in East Africa.
